Breaking News

I've just been contacted by a publisher in the UK offering me a publishing contract.

I haven't seen the fine print yet, but I have a pretty good feeling after our phone chat.

Now how am I supposed to come down off this frickin' cloud and get work done today?

*SCREECHES!!!*

Work? No way. Wander around in circles mindlessly picking things up and putting them down.

Whoa. Mega-great news, Sandra! Heck with work. Go celebrate!

Thanks you guys. I'm going to go feed the dogs. Beyond that, I guess it'll be like New Year's all over again!

Sod working, Sandra. You have my permission to wander around like an idiot with a dazed expression on your face and whimper from time to time.

Congratulations. And maybe it'll be my turn soon;}#

Amen to that James.

Although you have an agent. I don't. Not yet anyway...

Ask Mr Stuart to introduce you to Agent Phil. He's short, but he's funny (especially with a few drinks in him).

Seriously though, if a publisher's offering, you should have agents trying to bite your arm off. And a good agent is well worth their percentage.

You deserve to walk around on that cloud today.

Big congrats.

Hey, look who's talking!

Yeah, Sandra! As ever I'm late on all the news but great stuff! Now the real work begins, huh? Ah, it'll be great fun!

Sandra Ruttan said...

Great fun? I'll give you a ring on my sleepless nights and get you to help me with revisions, okay?

Seriously, thanks you guys. I really appreciate the encouragement. The only thing I hope at the moment is that I can sleep tonight!

Sandra

Don't mention the "r" word (that's revision not ring)... that's what I'm doing right now... But yes [big grin] its great fun!

And as a very wise man once said, sleep is for tortoises (hence why I'm still banging around at twenty to four)

Sandra Ruttan said...

Well, at least when I'm slaving away at twenty to four, it will be 10:40 am in your timezone and seem quite reasonable to be up!

As it is, it's almost my bedtime!

Good to hear you're having fun with the revisions though. I'm supposed to be working on short stories. Maybe I'll get around to it before long - or not at all!

Russel said...

Like I'll be at 10:40 :-) And I got my times wrong. The clocks in my office are an hour ahead. It was only twenty to three... All the same I think many other people on this fair isle are all tucked up in their bed.

Good luck with the short stories. That's my plan once I have these revisions away...

Obviously my plan is not working on your short stories... Different ones, quite clearly...

Sandra Ruttan said...

Oh, I don't know Russel, you might help me salvage these short stories! This one has been called the sickest thing I've ever tried to do. If you've read this blog at all, you know that's actually saying something!

You know what would be kinda fun? A short story swap where someone starts it and it goes from writer to writer and gets added to. But only if we go alphabetically so that I can go after John and Stuart - then I could get them back for anything they did.

And good luck on your edits, and your short stories!

Good girl for correcting the Springsteen typo.

Oh, btw, I'm not congratulating you until I'm allowed "Kim" as a username. So get it sorted, my dear. Ta.

I think Boy Kim suits you better.

You have to register. But if you stick around, I think you'll find this crowd to your liking. You get to see my sassy side.
