Crossing 23,000

Well, if today is an average day - even a below average day - around here, I'll pass the 23,000th visitor mark on my blog. Considering we're still a few months off from my one year anniversary, and I don't lure you with exciting contests and I'm not famous, nor do I look like Grace Kelly, the way Cornelia Read does, I consider that pretty impressive.

There should be a joke or something to celebrate, but all I can tell you is that my post is up on Killer Year - The Right Kind of Reader - check it out.

Oh, and this just in: From my friend, DW. There are a zillion things I could add to this, but in an exceptionally rare moment of self restraint, I'm going to go. Right now.

But first, remind you that it's Dar Wednesday. I find it perversely amusing to laugh at stupid people.

LOL me too, Sandra!! We're sick tickets. I really love when somebody falls up the stairs. Mind you, I do that all the time.

But I have this weird fear that someday I will somehow earn a Darwin award. :9

Gotta love Dar Wednesday. Speaking of Dar. We recently had a death locally. Man was on a spiral staircase that was attached to a building. Staircase was not up to code, not attached to building very well. Staircase fell. Man died. How horrible you say? Know what he was doing on the staircase? He was trying to kick in the door at the top of the stairs to rob the place. Sometimes justice is swift.

It's just 'cuz we luv ya, Sandra. You don't need no steenkin' contests. :-)

Congrats on 23,000 visitors and rising!

Yeah Trace, we don't need movies. Just stupid people in public places and popcorn! LOL.

Julia, I have the same fear. And I've done some stupid things in my day...

Andrea, ha ha! Although you just got to know the family is going to sue to building superintendent.

SW, aw, thanks! And no contests is a lot cheaper. :)

Have you ever read the Darwin Award books? That's right, entire books just dedicated to the stupidity of humans. It boggles the mind. Actually, what boggles is that there are now three volumes of the book!

There are a lot of stupid people out there Norby!

There are definately enough stupid people to entertain us for at least the rest of our natural lives (unless we, in a moment of utter stupidity, pull a stunt that reserves us a space in the next volume).

Good new for us/sucks to be them, eh James?!

The amazing thing about the Darwin Awards is that to actually win won the individual has to have died while committing the act in question. You can possibly win if you are no longer able to procreate, but that's iffy. The one I will never forget is the lady who smeared honey all over her kid's head so she could get a picture of a bear licking the kid. She got an honorable mention. norby

Yes, indeed, Sandra. :D

YAY 23,000!!!! YOU TOTALLY ROCK!!!!!!!

Dude, you are very kind to say that I look like Grace Kelly, but I have to say that you think that ONLY because a) you haven't ever met me in real life, and b) the guy who took my author photo had the Grace Kelly filter on while he was photoshopping the bejesus out of that shot.

Seriously--in real life I look like either the Joker (smiling) or Queen Victoria (non-smiling). And if you don't believe me, I'm sure Ms. Tarquini will back me up on that. But of course you will discover all this for yourself at Bcon.

Norby, wow. Yeah, that has happened here, actually. Usually with hands, but still.

James :)

Cornelia, you're forgetting that at B'Con I'll have my 'drinking until I'm perma-happy' glasses on. So I'm sure you'll look fabulous. :)

Way to go, Sandra! Can't imagine drawing that many readers to a blog. Pretty damn impressive.
