The Sound of Silence

I was asked if I went through withdrawal, and to some degree I did. However, it wasn’t as bad as I thought. If it wasn’t for the fact that we have an issue to put up this week, I could have survived.

As a matter of fact, I actually talked to people. Okay, it isn’t as time efficient. But it is more fun.

When I got up yesterday morning the internet had already been down for five hours. I got up at 5 am. I assumed it was us, that there was another problem with our dish, because of the length of time involved. One thing about our provider is that they have an alarm system in place if the network or any part of it goes down – it is only individual supply loss that they don’t get immediate notification on. So, I thought it was us.

Turns out, it wasn’t. It took them 16 hours to fix it. After the fiasco of the weekend, it could have been a day of serious agitation.

In a way, it worked out well. I was already planning to have lunch with my friend, Deletta. They did some major renovations to their house this summer, and I finally got to see the finished product. Looks fantastic.

As is often the case, when you aren’t able to go online things seem to happen.

Miss Snark plugs Spinetingler… again
Miss Snark references Spinetingler again. Thanks to Bonnie for letting me know and thanks to Miss Snark, on behalf of all of our writers.

SW Vaughn has some very exciting publishing news!

Sela Carsen has been getting some great reviews and she’s reflecting on how important the blogging community is to her.

I know that one of the things I feel when I’m offline for a while is a sense of disconnect. It’s okay if I’m physically traveling, doing something that keeps me busy out of my normal environment, but when I’m at home I feel cut off.

And it is strange how people you’ve never met face to face can become important to you, but I think it’s great. Most importantly, this is a simple way to catch up on each other.

One of the things I hope to do today is make it around to a bunch of the other blogs and see what’s going on. I was glad I started doing that yesterday, so that I didn’t miss SW’s news.

With any luck, this means I’ll be completely back to normal tomorrow.

My thanks to Norby and Uncle Charlie for sending these.

Great funnies today - actually laughed out loud at the Kermit x-ray. Glad the Great Internet Debacle of Sept. 2006 has (hopefully!) been resolved. Welcome back!

Angie, don't those rock? Love them. And fingers crossed!

David, DesLily - poor Kermit, eh? And do you wonder if the alligator is trying to decide what he'd prefer to end up as? Do you want to be like Mom or Dad? Poor guy!

Thanks for putting a smile on my face. I had been "out of comission" finishing my doctoral dissertation and finally did it! I was awarded my degree and feel relief now! Good to visit again.

Seriously, the internet did seem very quiet this weekend. Strange.

I think a lot of people have been really busy. Start of school... September is a very busy time of year. A lot of people coming back from holidays and such.

Congrats on Thrilling Detective!
