Do Batman and Harrogate Prove Monoculture is (unfortunately) Still Thriving?

While some lament the death of monoculture, it seems clear to me that the rise of the internet and how it has influenced consumers means we should be embracing the opportunity to both provide and gain access to different material instead of trying to limit readers to blockbuster-type offerings that recycle well-trodden themes and don't have anything fresh to contribute to the literary world.
