Absolutely, time is a huge factor as well as money.

I love the idea of bookstores showing trailers - I think multi-media marketing is in the future. Sometimes I'm amazed just thinking of all the changes in my lifetime, how twenty years ago we didn't have the internet, how even ten years ago I wasn't using e-mail and now it's part of my daily life. The rise of books on tape, then CD, ebooks and now e-readers... And now we have book trailers. It's only a matter of time before we start seeing more integrated storytelling formats, I think.Sandra Ruttanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06109584805469336742noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18499463.post-23611553989801231472007-11-30T00:29:00.000-05:002007-11-30T00:29:00.000-05:00As a book trailer marketing specialist I can confi...As a book trailer marketing specialist I can confirm that book trailers are selling books. We have booksellers taking trailers as content, not co-op.

As a publicist for both bestselling and mid-list authors I am always looking at the evolution of internet marketing. And I agree that there's more to do here, but you need long term commitment.
You have sites like Reader's Entertainment TV that appeal to a younger audience and you have book reviews and author sites for more traditional readers.

Amazon charges for book video placement, but you can do a video book review, add in your book cover and perhaps even include bits of your trailer and upload that baby for free to the Amazon.com site.

Part of the problem isn't necessarily money (though it is a consideration to be sure) but time. Who has the time to write and promote in a way that is truly effective?

What would be great is to have a single site that aggragetes online promotional opportunities according to cost and time.

I've used PR Web with great success and I highly recommend it.
Our book trailers get a minimum of 10,000 hits a month per trailer. And those numbers are growing. Tie the press release to the trailer and you have even more hits.

This was a very interesting blog. I'm so glad I came across it! Very intriguing discussion.Sheilahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05555693618145734681noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18499463.post-22866327378712400802007-11-29T17:54:00.000-05:002007-11-29T17:54:00.000-05:00I agree - do you have a trailer for your book?I agree - do you have a trailer for your book?Sandra Ruttanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06109584805469336742noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18499463.post-66190338041255428902007-11-29T17:33:00.000-05:002007-11-29T17:33:00.000-05:00I find the development of book trailers very inter...I find the development of book trailers very interesting and will be critical to book promotion in the years to come. Did you read the Newsweek article on the future of books and the possible growth of e-book readers? Interesting stuff.Eileenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07967828178034612278noreply@blogger.com
